Embracing its competitive spirit, CAF is gearing up to host four national championship events in July 2021: the USA Paracycling road race, time trials, criterium and relay national championships. This series of events is the last domestic championship before Tokyo 2021. With all four events held in the same state over a single weekend, elite athletes are able to focus less on travel and more on their performance.
Idaho’s growing adaptive cycling community is a haven for riders of all ages and abilities. Through equipment and training grants, camps and clinics, and handpicked mentor matchups, Challenged Athletes Foundation Idaho finds innovative ways to help Idahoans with physical challenges get active through cycling.
Whether undergoing a massive cycling challenge or learning to ride a bike for the first time, members of CAF-Idaho and its community of supporters share a love of sports that drives the state to new levels of accessibility, inclusion, and competition.

Will Groulx’s Paralympic career began with wheelchair rugby, making three US Paralympic Teams in’04, ’08 and ’12 before switching to handcycling. As a paracyclist, Will won gold and two silver medals at the Rio Games in 2016.
Craig Cornwall, who has worked for NASA’s Langley Research Center and the Johnson Space Center, has been active as a handcyclist for a decade – first racing at nationals in 2008. Focusing solely on cycling, Craig took sixth at Nationals in May.
Paralympian, Purple Heart recipient and Pat Tillman Award recipient Josh Sweeney made the US National Paralympic Sled Hockey Team in 2011, and subsequently won a series of world and Paralympic Championships.
After their season came to an unexpected end due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s Women’s Adaptive Cycling Team is back! With Carlos Moleda returning as the Team Manager and coming off of a long year of indoor training over Zoom, the all-female team is ready to compete at a series of live events in 2021.
