That’s why the Challenged Athletes Foundation provides life-changing access to adaptive sports equipment, coaching, and competition expenses. This year, we are igniting more futures through sport thanks to the generosity of our supporters.
From 2 years of age to 78 years, we’ve been able to provide 3,256 grants totaling $6.2 million.

Each individual has a unique personal story, and without this critical funding, participation in sports would be unattainable due to the general lack of insurance coverage for adaptive sports equipment and limited opportunities for these individuals to practice and compete.
As someone who’s played sports his entire life, Carson is anxious to play again after being diagnosed with Telangiectatic Osteosarcoma and having to amputate his leg.
With an Össur sports prosthesis, Carson will be a step closer to his old self and able to participate in sport again.
Morgan was born with congenital limb difference and PFFD. She had a Boyd amputation at the age of 2.
She’s very interested in training for a kids triathlon. This year’s grant will help her find the coaching resources to reach her goals.
In 2010, Josue lost leg and eye to IED blast while serving with the Marines. Recently, Josue took up handcycling with the goal of competing in the Paralympics.
Through CAF Operation Rebound, Josue has received funds for handcycling coaching. He just participated in his first Ironman.
After Tavian graduated high school, he was involved in an automobile accident. He spent nearly 20 years in a wheelchair until he started to get into hand cycling and now competes at an elite level.
The new Top End Force RX handcycle he received this year will help him reach that podium!
