Biography:
Tony was born in Columbia, MO and grew up in Jacksonville, IL. Upon graduating from high school in 1999, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was then shipped out to Ft. Knox, KY for basic training. Tony was trained as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle mechanic and systems maintainer. After finishing his enlistment, Tony moved to Illinois where he joined the National Guard.
After the emergency amputation, Tony was evacuated from the war zone to Germany and then the U.S. He began his rehabilitation at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and then was sent to the Center for the Intrepid (CFI) in San Antonio, TX for further rehabilitation and recovery.
While at the CFI Tony took up discus and javelin as part of his physical therapy regimen and also began competing in beginner track & field events. Today, with equipment provided by CAF Operation Rebound, Tony is competing in events around the country with the goal of being a part of the U.S. Paralympic team.
