EMPOWERING LIVES THROUGH SPORT
CAF-NorCal offers clinics, programs, grants, and community events to individuals with physical disabilities, while also supporting families, encouraging volunteers, and appreciating our supporters. These opportunities not only provide access to sports but also foster a sense of community, allowing individuals to meet others. A variety of sports clinic opportunities are hosted throughout the year in the greater Bay Area to give individuals with a permanent physical disability the opportunity to learn a new sport or improve their skills.

CELEBRATION OF HEART
May 31, 2024
The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) raised over $800,000 at its annual Celebration of Heart event on Friday, May 31 at Pier 27 in downtown San Francisco. The heart-filled evening united the Bay Area community to celebrate local CAF athletes. More than 400 Bay Area attendees across sports, technology, business, and philanthropy embraced the night’s “Power of Dreams” theme to empower more individuals with physical disabilities.
The heartfelt program was led by event co-chairs Kristin Roth DeClark & Karl Peterson, Allison Caccoma & Alan Shanken, and Lotte Toftdahl & Ryan Goldman, whose dedication, passion, generosity, and philanthropic spirit shined a spotlight on their deep connection to sport and the Bay Area community. Kristin Roth DeClark emphasized,“The benefits of participating in sports are endless. Empowering individual lives through CAF’s mission here in the Bay Area by providing grants and building programs that support athletes year-round is essential.”
CAF-NORCAL CYCLING CHALLENGE
AUGUST 7-11, 2024
The NorCal Cycling Challenge was a true embodiment of CAF’s mission, with participants riding side-by-side with CAF athletes. We were honored to have special guest, Christine Webster, a Healdsburg local and adaptive cyclist, share her passion and deep connection to the area with the peloton. Team USA athlete Bryan Larsen delivered an engaging talk, adding to the event’s excitement. Among the inspiring participants were CAF riders Alfredo Zuany, Drew Asaro, Michelle Pinard (joined by her husband Mike), Steven Phillips, Ed Blumenstock, and Antonia DeMichiel. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated ride leaders, volunteers, and mechanics who made this incredible event possible!
