WHEELCHAIRS
A variety of wheelchairs are available and can be used to play pickleball, which include tennis and multi-sport wheelchairs. While there are many variations and customizations available for sport wheelchairs, see just a few examples below to learn more.
Tennis Wheelchair
Tennis wheelchairs are suitable to use while playing pickleball due to the similar nature of maneuverability during the game. Tennis wheelchairs are typically made of a lightweight material and have an anti-tip caster wheel in the back to prevent tipping backwards while serving the ball and during play. The low back rest allows for the player to swing at the ball without being blocked by the back of the chair. There are cambered (angled) wheels and front casters for ease with maneuverability, and straps for increased safety during play. The wheelchair shown in this photo is made to measure to best the individual.

Multi-Sport Wheelchair
This multi-sport wheelchair is designed for use across multiple sports. This chair has many options for adjustments, such as center of gravity, seat height, footrest, removable front bumper, and velcro upholstery. This chair also has two anti-tip caster wheels in the rear to prevent tipping. This multi-sport wheelchair is suitable for individuals who prefer to engage in multiple sports rather than just one.

ACCESSORIES
Available accessories for pickleball include a pickleball retriever, paddle grips, and wrist support. See below to learn more…
Pickleball Retriever
The pickleball retriever is designed to provide ease with picking up the balls from the ground. This device slides over the bottom portion of the paddle grip and suctions the pickleball, allowing the individual to lean towards the ball to retrieve it rather than bending all the way over to floor level.

Paddle Grips
Grips may be added to a paddle to help an individual maintain their grip during play. The paddle grips shown in this image have a tacky surface for an excellent grip and are moisture wicking.

Wrist Guard
Wrist guards can be worn for increased stability of the wrist to prevent injuries to the wrist and hands. This wrist support has an adjustable velcro strap and helps to keep the wrist cool by reducing heat retention. The compression provided by this device helps to prevent the occurrence of soft tissue injuries while playing pickleball.

Wheelchair Leg Straps
A variety of wheelchair leg strap products are available. Leg straps are used to hold the athlete’s legs securely in place while engaging in sports for increased safety and injury prevention. The image to the right is an available leg strap that can be applied around the thighs or lower legs and can come padded for extra protection if preferred. Waist straps, calf straps and foot straps are other types of available leg straps that secure lower legs and feet into place.
